2024 PETC
The ProStart Educators Training Conference (PETC), formerly CETC, is an intensive 2-day culinary arts training for high school teachers featuring skilled industry experts. Add an additional day of basic skills training for instructors with less than two years experience.
PETC is designed for educators who want to network with peers, increase their knowledge and improve their skills. PETC is produced by the Texas Restaurant Foundation and is hosted in 2024 by St Philips College. Back to Basics Boot Camp, held in conjunction with PETC, was created to serve as a refresher course for existing culinary educators and to provide rudimentary instruction for conference attendees new to their role as a ProStart educator or the industry. Our goal is to provide educators with the necessary culinary skills needed to navigate the culinary environment. We aim to expose you to hands-on training that will inspire and deliver creative ideas that can be incorporated into your classrooms.
The conference sells out every year with an extensive wait list. Registration is first come first serve.
Attire:
The dress for conference events is casual. During sessions, conference attendees should wear their chef coat, chef hats, and chef pants. (Coats will be provided. If you do not have chef pants you can wear a pair of comfortable, relaxed fit black cotton pants.) Be prepared to work in the kitchen labs with comfortable, closed toe, and rubber soled shoes. At the minimum, bring a 8" - 10" chef knife ready to use during sessions.
