Led by the Texas Restaurant Association, a task force made up of chain and independent restaurants plus health officials provided Governor Abbott and his team with a recommended set of guidelines to support the reopening of Texas restaurants in April 2020. The guidelines incorporated in the Texas Restaurant Promise have been updated to align with federal and state guidance and best practices throughout the pandemic. During this time, the Texas Restaurant Promise has embodied the industry’s commitment to go above and beyond to keep our employees and customers safe. By posting the Texas Restaurant Promise at their entrances, restaurants throughout Texas commit to best practices and ask their guests to do the same. This not only helps us to protect each other from COVID-19, but it also helps restaurants create an environment that is welcoming to all. By working together, we can continue to rebuild Texas’ hospitality industry as we defeat COVID-19.
To respond to the immediate financial need in our industry, we established the TX Restaurant Relief Fund through the Texas Restaurant Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on the education and development of Texas’ restaurant industry workforce.
The mission of the TX Restaurant Relief Fund (TRRF) is to provide immediate financial relief to Texas' independent restaurateurs with funds designed to save employee jobs. As of July 2021, the TRRF has provided grants to 750 independent restaurants in Texas thanks to the generosity of our donors.
