TRAEF partners with Texas Mutual to support new industry workforce programs in Texas.
Austin, TX (Monday, September 30, 2019) – The Texas Restaurant Association (TRA), the largest hospitality and foodservice advocate in the state, is pleased to announce a charitable contribution in the amount of $30,000 from longtime partner Texas Mutual Insurance Company to help with the support and development of new workforce programs in Texas. This commitment will enhance objectives for the TRA Education Foundation (TRAEF), the non-profit and workforce arm of the TRA, as it expands its statewide educational and workforce development program to include and impact three new demographics: military and veterans, re-entry population, and underserved and at-risk youth. The expansion will not only strengthen TRAEF as a major Texas workforce solution, but also serves to improve the labor shortage that is crippling Texas restaurants. With the support of the largest worker’s compensation insurance provider in Texas, Texas Mutual is the ideal industry partner for this program.
Since 1998, Texas Mutual has partnered with TRA when it founded its industry safety group, giving members a premium discount on their workers’ compensation insurance, access to industry-specific resources, and the potential to earn dividends. As a TRA Preferred Partner and TRAEF board member, Texas Mutual is closely in-tune with the needs of the restaurant industry. This $30,000 contribution demonstrates Texas Mutual’s commitment to the association and helps to meet a critical need.
“TRA and Texas Mutual have been partners for more than 20 years, working together to enact change and provide support to the restaurant industry in Texas,” said Emily Williams Knight, Ed.D, TRA’s Chief Executive Officer. “With this generous contribution, we seek to strengthen our workforce programs in the Education Foundation to realize true change in our industry and our communities.”
Texas Mutual insures more than 70,000 business owners and their 1.5 million workers across Texas. “Every day, these companies are entrusting us to keep their workplaces safe,” said Jeremiah Bentley, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Engagement. “That’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We are proud to support the work that TRAEF is doing in the industry, and we’re excited to do our part to ensure the restaurant industry is strong and safe.”
