Texas ProStart State Final Cancelled

Mar 12

The Texas ProStart State Invitational, scheduled for March 27-28, is the culmination of months of hard work and practice by our talented ProStart student competitors and their teacher mentors and coaches. This scheduled event follows our two regional competitions held in Frisco and Round Rock, where we witnessed incredible skill and teamwork from each and every team.

In planning for the state competition, we are working closely with our partners and sponsors, and of course taking guidance from the CDC and Texas Education Authority. As in years past, St. Philip's College is scheduled to be our gracious host. In light of the current COVID19 situation, St. Philip’s College announced that following spring break, their students will resume classes in an online format. All on campus classes, activities and events are now cancelled.

While we could begin the search for another facility, taking our students, teachers and entire community of supporters’ safety into consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 State ProStart Invitational. Cancelling the competition, while the last thing we wanted, contributes to the health and safety of everyone. We are working closely with the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation regarding the National ProStart Invitational, scheduled for May 8-10, and will come back to you as soon as possible with information on how we will proceed.
